In Our Kitchen: Cinnamon Apple Chips
It's officially apple season in Ontario and what better than crisp, spiced apples to kick off our recipes? Apple chips pair beautifully with any charcuterie board, savoury or sweet, or used in salads, yogurt bowls, on oats, and are equally as delicious on their own - the possibilities are endless! Easy, versatile, and delicious… what’s not to love?
What You’ll Need
Apples (we used Ontario Macintosh)
Cinnamon, or cinnamon sugar if you prefer sweeter
Corer
Sharp Knife or Mandoline
Making the Chips
Preheat the oven to 200°F on convection setting, if your oven has it, and prepare baking sheets with parchment.
Core your apples and using mandoline, or sharp knife, slice into thin rounds. Spread apple chips out on the lined baking sheets and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Bake for 1 hour and 30 mins. Flip. Bake for another 1 hour and 30 mins. Check for crispness, bake longer if required. After baking, do not open the oven, turn it off and leave the apple chips for a few hours, preferably overnight.
